CAN'T SPEAK BUT NEED OUR HELP?

🚨 Can’t speak in an emergency? You can still get help.

If you ever need the police in an emergency but can’t talk, dial 999 as normal. When your call is answered:

- Listen carefully to the instructions
- If you’re asked a question but can’t speak, press 5️⃣5️⃣ on your phone keypad

This lets the call handler know that you need urgent police assistance, even though you can’t speak, and they’ll connect you to the police.

You can also:

- Cough or tap the handset if you can
- Stay on the line so call takers can listen for any sounds that may help
